Introduction

NIWIRE has been producing nickel alloy and stainless steel consumables from melting to finished products. Product forms include continuous wires precision wound on spools used in the Gas Metal Arc Welding process (GMAW or MIG), and cut length rods embossed with grades at ends for Tungsten Inert Gas welding (TIG), coated electrodes and welding strips for overlay, agglomerated fluxes, which are used in combination with weldstrip or sub-arc wire are also available.

NIWIRE 82 is used for welding nickel-chromium-iron alloy (UNS N06600) to itself, for the clad side of joints in steel clad with nickel chromium-iron alloy, for surfacing steel with nickel-chromium iron weld metal, for dissimilar welding of nickel-base alloys, and for joining steel to stainless steel or nickel-base alloys using the GTAW, GMAW, SAW, and PAW processes.

This filler metal is recommended for applications where the operating temperature ranges from cryogenic to 1000°F [540°C].

NIWIRE 162 is used for welding nickel chromium iron alloy (UNS N06600) to itself using the GTAW, GMAW, SAW, and PAW processes. The higher niobium content of the filler metal is intended to minimize cracking where high welding stresses are encountered, as in thick-section base metal.
