Soft Magnetic Alloy

Introduction

Soft magnetic alloys produced by NiWire are nickel-iron alloys that contain from about 35 to 81% of nickel. These alloys are using in applications requiring the following characteristics: high permeability, high saturation magnetostriction, low hysteresis-energy loss, low eddy-current loss in alternating flux, low curie temperature, vonstant permeability with changing temperature.

NiWire has been manufacturing soft magnetic alloys for many years. They are used for instrument transformers, radar pulse transformers, transducers, shielding, tape recorder head laminations and so on.

FeNi50 is a soft magnetic alloy, consisting of 49% Nickel, balance Iron used where high initial permeability, maximum permeability, and low core loss is needed.

Mu80 is a soft magnetic alloy consisting of 80% Nickel-Iron-4% Moly, used where extremely high initial & maximum permeability and minimum hysteresis is needed.

A soft magnetic nickel-iron alloy with about 80% nickel, 5% molybdenum, a saturation induction of approx. 0.7 T, the highest technically obtainable permeability, and a very low coercive force.
